CPS Session
A Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) session, based on Dr. Ross Greene’s model, is a structured conversation to address challenging behaviors by identifying and solving underlying problems together. It begins with empathy, where the adult listens to the child’s concerns, followed by defining the problem by sharing their own concerns. Finally, they collaborate to find a realistic, mutually satisfying solution. Unlike traditional behavior management, CPS focuses on problem-solving, skill-building, and trust, fostering autonomy and reducing challenging behaviors over time.
2.
IEP Consultation
An IEP Consultation helps parents navigate the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, ensuring it reflects their child’s strengths, needs, and accommodations. This service includes reviewing IEPs, identifying gaps, and developing neuroaffirming goals. With a focus on self-determination and equity, it empowers families to collaborate with schools and create an IEP that fosters autonomy, competence, and inclusion.
3.
Inclusion Advocacy
Gain clarity on your legal rights in education and how to effectively advocate for your child’s inclusion and support. With a personalized advocacy plan, you'll understand necessary accommodations, develop communication strategies, and navigate school meetings with confidence. By focusing on equity and student-centered solutions, you can shift from frustration to empowered advocacy, ensuring your child receives the education they are entitled to.
4.
Assessment
Our Assessment Services provide a comprehensive understanding of your child's strengths, challenges, and support needs. The Assessment of Skills and Unsolved Problems (ASUP) identifies lagging skills contributing to behavioral challenges, while a Stress Profile based on Stuart Shanker’s Self-Reg framework uncovers self-regulation stressors. We also offer Strengths-Based Assessments using VIA Character Strengths to highlight your child’s unique abilities. Coming soon, we will provide Academic and Executive Functioning Assessments to evaluate learning needs, attention, and organization. These assessments help create a clear, individualized support plan tailored to your child.
My Approach
My approach is neuroaffirming, neuroscience-informed, and rooted in the ethics of care, recognizing that every child’s experiences, challenges, and strengths are deeply interconnected with their environment, relationships, and self-perception. Rather than focusing on behavior as something to control, I guide parents in understanding why behaviors occur, helping them shift from a compliance-based mindset to one that values connection, co-regulation, and autonomy. This means recognizing that meltdowns, inattention, and resistance are often signals of lagging skills and stress, rather than willful defiance.
By integrating current neuroscience, self-regulation research, and developmental psychology, I help families uncover the stressors, strengths, and unsolved problems shaping their child’s experiences. This approach acknowledges that nervous system regulation, sensory processing, and executive functioning play a vital role in how children navigate the world. Understanding these factors allows parents to respond with compassion and intention, rather than reacting with frustration or punitive discipline.
Ultimately, I empower parents to see their child through a strengths-based lens, helping them advocate effectively, collaborate with educators, and create supportive environments that foster growth, confidence, and well-being. By centering the ethics of care, I ensure that every step in this process is respectful, inclusive, and attuned to the child’s dignity and individual needs.
